Gala Maria was born into a large family of diverse talents, drawing particular inspiration from her artistic relatives. Her grandmother, an author, fostered her love for reading and writing by taking her to writer's retreats. Her aunts, who were painters, and her great-great grandfather, who wrote the Honduran national anthem’s lyrics, also influenced her deeply. Spending her early childhood in New Orleans, she absorbed the city's jazzy sounds and became obsessed with Old Hollywood films, inspired by Judy Garland and Julie Andrews.

After moving to Honduras, Gala attended Escuela Internacional Sampedrana, where she took advanced art and writing classes. Despite her shyness, she was captivated by artists like Marina and the Diamonds, Lily Allen, and Lana Del Rey, shaping her artistic vision. Accepted early into Stanford University, she majored in Communication, focusing on Media Studies, and specialized in Iberian and Latin American Cultures, self-publishing two poetry collections during her time there.

After graduating, Gala began an M.A. in Media Studies but dropped out to pursue art. She returned to New Orleans to sell paintings and work on music, but Hurricane Ida disrupted her plans. Relocating to Texas, she worked at a recording studio, where she learned to produce and record her first project, Gingham. In Texas, she exhibited her paintings, met her fiancé, and released the EP ‘Blue by U,’ featuring songs about love and personal growth. Gala continues to evolve as an artist, aiming to transport her audience to her whimsical world.
