What is your artist name and where are you from?
My name is Joe Leytrick (Lee-trick) and I am from Pittsburgh, PA, USA.
What genre(s) of music do you tag your music in and what inspires you to create it?
At its core, my music is bedroom rock. I like to incorporate elements of rock, indie, lofi and rnb. As simple as it seems, I just like to make music!
Can you talk us a little about what inspired your most while creating your track for our ‘Analog Memories Vol.1’ compilation?
I was listening to yacht rock radio during the inception of “Crazy”. I wanted to make a song that featured electric piano and a deep RnB/soul vibe. I wanted to imagine driving at night on the highway, some relaxing but endearing music. I don’t use falsetto often but I wanted to add that funk element to the chorus. The whole song took about 1 hour to complete and it’s been sitting around my hard drive since lol.
How do you overcome creativity block while doing your music?
I’ve been kinder to myself in recent years during times of creative block. I usually just listen to music and take a break, the creative flow will return but the reservoir needs to fill up. I try to at least “show up” to create as often as I can. Sometimes I go into a session wanting to create a bad song. I try to alleviate as much pressure around writing as I can.
What are your goals for next year?
Make a lot of music, release a lot of music ;))))
If you could tell a writing/production technique, what it would be?
Just create a lot of music. Don’t get stuck on one song or idea. Just keep creating!!!!
If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I don’t think I would change anything. It is what it is. I try to focus on what I can control and just make as much music as possible.
what you like to do outside of music that contributes to your musicality?
I enjoy hanging with my partner Jules, being outside in nature, collecting Yu-Gi-Oh cards, playing with our dog Izzy, and traveling :))))
